FAQs - Biomass Boilers

Biomass boiler system questions and answers relating to useage, fuels and eneregy efficiency.

When you compare the annual savings from a biomass boiler system, the fuel costs work out cheater than using oil, liquid petroleum gas or electricity to heat a building. The fuel works out marginally cheaper than gas and the savings will increase as carbon-based fuel costs rise.

Solar thermal panels generate hot water when there is sunshine and a biomass boiler can be set to ‘kick-in’ during those periods when the solar thermal panels are not generating sufficient heat including night times and the autumn and winter months.

Biomass boilers burn natural materials including logs, wood chips, wood pellets and certials (as alternatives to traditional fuels including gas or oil) to generate heat and hot water.
