What is a Local Energy Storage system?

A Local Energy Storage System (LES) is a system for storing electrical energy in a battery for use on site when the mains power supply fails or at peak period and/or when electricity charges are highest. A local energy storage system will generally use Lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries and be charged from the mains power supply or an alternate renewable power source including solar PV or wind turbine installations.
