A Building Management System (BMS) is a centralised alarm monitoring system usually providing either a visual status indication board or computer monitoring screen.

Also known as an EMS, an energy management system is a computer-aided tool set used to monitor, control and optimise power generation, transmission and usage within a system. The monitoring and control technology may be referred to as SCADA/EMS or EMS/SCADA.
