How does LED lighting save energy?

LED lighting is more energy efficient than traditional incandescent light bulbs. The energy saving difference derives from the technology and science of how the bulb generates light. Incandescent light bulbs generate light by forcing current through a thin tungsten coil. A high proportion of the energy is converted to heat and a low amount to light. LED lights use a semiconductor which is more efficient at generating more of the energy into light with no or very little energy wastage by way of heat generation.
